Plot Summary:
A wry blend of dark humor, romantic deception,
and stylish melodrama-with an invigorating dash of suspense-"Married Life"
is an unconventional fable for grown-ups about the irresistible power and
utter madness of love.
After decades of marital contentment, Harry (Chris Cooper) concludes that
he must kill his wife Pat (Patricia Clarkson) because he loves her too
much to let her suffer when he leaves her. Harry has fallen hard for the
young and lovely Kay (Rachel McAdams), but his best friend Richard (Pierce
Brosnan) wants to win Kay for himself.
As Harry implements his maladroit plans for murdering his wife, the other
characters are entangled with their own deceptions. Like Harry, they race
towards their passions but trip over their scruples, seemingly
well-intended towards all, but truthful to none.
Married Life is an uncommonly adult film that surprises and confounds
expectations. While it plays with mystery, comedy, and intrigue, its
ultimate concern is: "What is married life?"
In its sly way, Married Life poses perceptive questions about the seasonal
discontents and unforeseen joys of all long-term relationships.

Plot Summary:
Already a smash in its native Italy, "My
Brother is an Only Child," which was presented at this year's Cannes and
Toronto film festivals, reunites director Luchetti with longtime
collaborators Sandro Petraglia and Stefano Rulli, best known as
screenwriters of the highly acclaimed "The Best of Youth."
Set in a small Italian town in the '60s and '70s, the film tells the story
of two brothers who want to change the world – but in completely different
ways. The elder, Manrico (Riccardo Scarmaccio), is a handsome, charismatic
firebrand who becomes the prime mover in the local Communist party. Accio,
(Elio Germano) the younger, more rebellious brother, finds his own
contrarian voice by joining the reactionary Fascists. What starts as a
typical tale of sibling rivalry becomes the story of the polarizing and
paralyzing politics of those turbulent times and, the rift between the
brothers is further intensified when Accio realizes that he loves his
brother’s girlfriend, Francesca (Diane Fleri) who, like everyone else, is
blind to Manrico’s increasingly dangerous ideas.
An intensely cinematic and incredibly incisive film about the dreams and
disillusionments of the '60s and '70s, "My Brother is an Only Child" is
set in the exact era of the groundbreaking early classics of Bernardo
Bertolucci and Marco Bellochio. Not only does Luchetti pay explicit homage
to those films – "Before the Revolution," "Fist in the Pocket," and "China
is Near" – he comes very close to matching their beauty, intelligence, and
youthful exuberance. Kung Fu

animals in ancient China. That's a problem because powerful enemies are at
the gates, and all hopes have been pinned on a prophesy naming Po as the
"Chosen One" to save the day. A group of martial arts masters are going to

into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be

There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die in his
slow, clock-punching rut.
Until he met a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie).
After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly sexy Fox recruits Wes
into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dad's
death by unlocking his dormant powers. As she teaches him how to develop

Plot Summary:
Based on leading scholarly accounts and
written by Bodrov and Arif Aliyev, "Mongol" delves into the dramatic and
harrowing early years of the ruler who was born as Temudgin in 1162. As it
follows Temudgin from his perilous childhood to the battle that sealed his
destiny, the film paints a multidimensional portrait of the future
conqueror, revealing him not as the evil brute of hoary stereotype, but as
an inspiring, fearless and visionary leader. "Mongol" shows us the making
of an extraordinary man, and the foundation on which so much of his
greatness rested: his relationship with his wife, Borte, his lifelong love
and most trusted advisor.
Filmed in the very lands that gave birth to Genghis Khan, "Mongol"
transports us back to a distant and exotic period in world history; to a
nomad’s landscape of endless space, climatic extremes and ever-present
danger. In a performance of powerful stillness and subtlety, celebrated
young Japanese actor Asano Tadanobu ("Zatoichi," "Last Life in the
Universe") captures the inner fire that enabled a hunted boy to become a
legendary conqueror. Asano’s achievement is matched by those of his
co-stars, including the radiant newcomer Khulan Chuluun as Temudgin’s
courageous, spirited wife Borte, and the Chinese actor Honglei Sun ("The
Road Home") as the Mongol chieftain Jamukha, Temudgin’s dearest friend and
deadliest enemy. Masterfully blending action and emotion against some of
the most arresting terrain on earth, Bodrov delivers an exciting and
awe-inspiring tale of survival and triumph, and a love story for the ages. The

Bringing the timeless lyrics and melodies of iconic super group ABBA to
movie audiences, Summer 2008 is the season for "Mamma Mia!"
The three women who created the worldwide smash stage hit--global producer
Judy Craymer, writer Catherine Johnson and director Phyllida Lloyd--repeat
their roles in bringing this joyful, musical story to the big screen. The
Mamma Mia! film is produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman.
Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Julie
Walters, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper join Streep in this
celebration of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads.
An independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek
island, Donna (Streep) is about to let go of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the
spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has
invited her two lifelong best girlfriends--practical and no-nonsense Rosie
(Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya (Christine Baranski)--from
her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly
invited three guests of her own.
On a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle,
she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean paradise
they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love
will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush island full of
possibilities.
Inspired by the storytelling magic of ABBA's songs from "Dancing Queen"
and "S.O.S." to "Money, Money, Money" and "Take a Chance on Me," Mamma
Mia! is a celebration of mothers and daughters, old friends and new family
found.

Steenburgen). Reilly plays Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed
forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins). When
Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced
to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and
downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two
middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane,
elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they
must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them
out of the house. The screenplay is by Will Ferrell & Adam McKay from a

Plot Summary:
"The Unknown Woman" is Irena (Xenia Rappoport),
an emigrant who fled Eastern Europe and has moved to a Northern Italian
city. She lives amidst ghosts of the past and a search for the present,
two planes of time that make up an intriguing puzzle. Who is Irena really?
Little by little, her story unfolds. She easily fell prey to ruthless,
unscrupulous men and was subjected to unspeakable brutalities and
humiliations, the kind that can never be put to rest. Only one beautiful
memory remains for Irena, a melancholic, heartrending lost love. The
mysterious woman seems to have a very precise motive when she tries to
find work as a cleaning lady. From the window of her apartment, she spies
intently upon the building across the street. Though Irena’s job is to
clean and polish the stairs of that building, her true aim is to get close
to a family living there. The Adachers are in the goldsmith business.
There is the wife Valeria (Claudia Gerini), her husband Donato (Pierfrancesco
Favino), and their little girl Tea (Clara Dossena). Nothing will stop
Irena from getting herself a job in their household. Not even murder.

Plot Summary:
"American Teen" is the touching and hilarious
Sundance hit that follows the lives of five teenagers - a jock, a popular
girl, a heartthrob, an artsy girl and a geek – in one small town in
Indiana through their senior year of high school. We see the insecurities,
the cliques, the jealousies, the first loves and heartbreaks, and the
struggle to make profound decisions about the future.
Filming daily for ten months, filmmaker Nanette Burstein ("On the Ropes,"
"The Kid Stays in the Picture") developed a deep understanding of her
subjects. The result is a film that goes beyond the enduring stereotypes
of high school to render complex young people trying to find their way
into adulthood.
Hannah Bailey is smart and beautiful, but a misfit in her high school. She
is a liberal, atheist living in a traditional, Christian, conservative
town and dreams of moving to California after graduation. Colin Clemens is
the star of the high school basketball team - and in Indiana, basketball
is everything. Colin is under enormous pressure this year playing not only
to make his town, his school, and his father proud, but for a college
scholarship. Jake Tusing is considered to be a nerd in high school. Though
quite funny and charming one-on-one, he is painfully shy in group
situations and crushed with self-doubt. In his senior year he vows that
nothing will stand in the way of him finding a girlfriend. Megan
Krizmanich is the student council Vice President and the youngest daughter
of a prominent local surgeon, anxiously awaiting word from Notre Dame
University admissions. Wealthy, pretty, smart and popular, she rules her
high school - just don't get on her bad side. When Megan’s peers challenge
her authority, she can’t help but take action, even if it means risking
her future. Mitch Reinholdt is an attractive and charming Varsity
basketball jock with a soft side. When he puts his social status on the
line, avoiding his popular friends for dates with artsy Hannah Bailey, he
strains to maintain his reputation while discovering a new side of
himself.
With extraordinary intimacy and a great deal of humor, "American Teen"
captures the pressures of growing up – pressures that come from one's
peers, one's parents, and not least, oneself.

Plot Summary:
Next summer, the guys who brought you Superbad
reunite for the action-comedy "Pineapple Express." Lazy stoner Dale Denton
(Seth Rogen) has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul
Silver (James Franco): to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain
called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a
murder by a crooked cop (Rosie Perez) and the city's most dangerous drug
lord (Gary Cole), he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at
the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the
weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him. And it is. As Dale and
Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering
from weed-fueled paranoia; incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on
their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both.
All aboard the Pineapple Express.
The film is directed by David Gordon Green ("All the Real Girls"). The
screenplay is by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg from a story by Judd Apatow
and Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg. Judd Apatow and Shauna Robertson produce.
